Oxygen?deficient water zones in the Baltic Sea promote uncharacterized Hg methylating microorganisms in underlying sediments

چکیده

Human-induced expansion of oxygen-deficient zones can have dramatic impacts on marine systems and its resident biota. One example is the formation potent neurotoxic methylmercury (MeHg) that mediated by microbial methylation inorganic divalent Hg (HgII) under conditions. A negative consequence could be an increase in MeHg production due to shifts communities favor microorganisms methylating Hg. There is, however, limited knowledge about Hg-methylating microbes, i.e., those carrying hgc genes critical for mediating process, from sediments. Here, we aim study presence transcripts metagenomes metatranscriptomes four surface sediments with contrasting concentrations oxygen sulfide Baltic Sea. We show potential methylators differed among depending redox Sediments oxygenated featured hgc-like predominantly associated uncultured Desulfobacterota (OalgD group) Desulfobacterales (including Desulfobacula sp.) while a hypoxic-anoxic included hgc-carrying Verrucomicrobia, unclassified Desulfobacterales, Desulfatiglandales, uncharacterized microbes. Our data suggest may lead compositional change groups sediments, where whose metabolism biology not yet been characterized will promoted expand.

Microbial methanogenesis in the sulfate-reducing zone of sediments in the Eckernförde Bay, SW Baltic Sea

Benthic microbial methanogenesis is a known source of methane in marine systems. In most sediments, the majority of methanogenesis is located below the sulfatereducing zone, as sulfate reducers outcompete methanogens for the major substrates hydrogen and acetate. The coexistence of methanogenesis and sulfate reduction has been shown before and is possible through the usage of noncompetitive sub...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

determination of maximal singularity free zones in the workspace of parallel manipulator

due to the limiting workspace of parallel manipulator and regarding to finding the trajectory planning of singularity free at workspace is difficult, so finding a best solution that can develop a technique to determine the singularity-free zones in the workspace of parallel manipulators is highly important. in this thesis a simple and new technique are presented to determine the maximal singula...
